The PMI readings for September were reassuring. Downward pressure on construction activity eased markedly, reflecting the fading impact of typhoon disruptions and a likely pick-up in fiscal spending. Strong foreign demand continued to buoy manufacturing activity, while services also strengthened. With policy support efforts ramping up, we expect a further recovery over the rest of the year.
